New signing Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall believes Cole Palmer is the perfect example and admitted it would be "ideal" to follow in his footsteps.

Dewsbury-Hall arrived from Leicester earlier this month in a deal worth £30m having won the Championship last season under Enzo Maresca, and signed a five year contract at Stamford Bridge.

The 25-year-old is currently out in America with the rest of the Chelsea squad on their pre-season tour, but missed the first game against Wrexham with a slight niggle and will be hoping to feature against Celtic on Saturday.

Cole Palmer the perfect example

The midfielder appears to be settling into his new surroundings well, and it's no doubt a huge help that he knows Maresca well.

Dewsbury-Hall scored 12 goals and provided 14 assists last season and will be hoping to replicate that form for the Blues.

Competition for places in midfield will be fierce and Dewsbury-Hall will likely be competing for one spot in the middle of the park given Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo are more than likely to start.

Dewsbury-Hall will be hoping to make an impact for Chelsea next season.

A move to Chelsea will likely help his aspirations of playing for England, and Dewsbury-Hall admitted he wants to earn a call-up in the next 12 months, citing Palmer as the perfect example.

"I have always dreamt of playing for England, he told Mail Sport.

"I have my aims for Chelsea, of course, winning trophies and playing well, but hopefully side by side with that, if it can get me in contention, it would be a dream.

"Cole Palmer is the perfect example. He is absolutely flying and went on to make a great impact at the Euros. To do something similar, to follow in those footsteps, would be ideal."

Palmer is the perfect example to anyone quite frankly, and if Dewsbury-Hall can get anywhere near that level of impact in his first season then he's set to contribute in a big way.
