Chelsea are not looking to actively sell Axel Disasi this month despite the Frenchman being linked with a move away according to reports.
Disasi arrived in the summer of 2023 from AS Monaco in a deal worth £38.8m and featured prominently under Mauricio Pochettino, making 44 appearances in all competitions.
However, the situation for the 26-year-old has been very different under Enzo Maresca and he's found himself very much in a bit part role.
Chelsea not actively looking to sell Disasi
The Blues aren't expected to be active in January, with the focus set to very much be on outgoings, with Ben Chilwell and Carney Chukwuemeka both told they can leave the club.
Disasi has predominantly been used out of position at right back and has only started one league game in his preferred centre back role.
The France international had a torrid time on Monday night in the defeat to Ipswich, which led to John Obi Mikel questioning why Maresca keeps picking him at right back.
Disasi is well down the pecking order at centre half and when everyone is fit he's arguably fifth choice, whilst the Blues now have three right backs, with Josh Acheampong committing his future to the club.
The former Monaco man has been linked with a move away, and it's no secret the Blues are looking to sign another centre back, with Disasi seen as the most likely to leave in order to make space in the squad.
However, Football London have reported the Blues aren't actively looking to sell Disasi, and they feel he provides cover in multiple positions across the backline.
The report does add that if a suitable offer were received they wouldn't be against selling the Frenchman, although it remains to be seen what price Chelsea value Disasi at.
Whatever happens this month it feels pretty certain this will be Disasi's last season at the club, and it's clear he's not a big part of the plans going forward.
