Chelsea 'still haven't given up' on Atlético Madrid's Samu Omorodion — report

Sure, sure

Chelsea were linked with FM regen Samu Omorodion earlier this window, which suddenly made half of Chelsea Twitter Samu-experts. But then nothing happened and this story faded into the background. And then Chelsea ended up signing another young striker from La Liga, Marc Guiu instead.

But there's still a little over a month left in the transfer window, and Guiu may not be bound for the first-team anyway (despite his effort-ful positive first impressions in Wednesday's friendly against Wrexham), so the Samu story may not be over yet.

According to Ben Jacobs, Chelsea "still haven't given up" on the 20-year-old Spanish Olympian, despite Atlético Madrid driving a hard bargain. Chelsea's previously reported bid was in the £25-30m range, and Jacobs claims that we've gone as high as something approaching €50m (including bonuses). But Atléti want €70m, and at the same time hope to set a €120m release clause in a new contract for Omorodion.

Wait, what's that? A new contract for Omorodion? Oh. You're welcome, Samu.
