Four out of four

Only 90 minutes (ed.note: or 120!) left in the sequence of season-defining matches between Chelsea and Manchester City. We've won two, they've won one and we've even got a (League Cup) trophy to show for it, but that 2-0 defeat in the first leg of our UEFA Women's Champions League matchup last week was not ideal.

Of course, we can still come out on top. All we have to do is play as well as in the second half over the weekend, when we turned around a 1-0 deficit with an impressive response. That only took 45 minutes; now we've got 90. (Ed.note: or 120!)

Date / Time: Thursday, March 27, 2025, 20.00 GMT; 4pm EDT
Venue: Stamford Bridge, SW6
Referee: Catarina Campos (on pitch); André Narciso (VAR)
Forecast: Clear sky and light winds

On TV: TNT Sports 1 (UK); none (USA); elsewhere

Chelsea team news: The Blues showed plenty of grit and determination to battle back on Sunday, and we even managed to rest a few legs with Erin Cuthbert and Mayra Ramirez only playing in the second half.

Although the outcomes have not been always amazing, Sonia Bompastor has been smart with her squad rotation choices, especially given all our injuries. Many remain out with long-term ailments — though Mia Fishel is now back — but at least for this match we have no new injury concerns. We should be able to field our strongest available lineup.

Manchester City team news: City's two-goal advantage already seemed pretty daunting, and if Khiara Keating has another worldie of a game like this weekend, it may well be insurmountable. But Keating has been known to make a few crucial errors, too, so there's always that.

Like Chelsea, City have had more than their fair share of injuries, including during this run of fixtures. And now they also won't be able to call upon Laura Blindkilde-Brown, who picked up an injury in training. Meanwhile both Laia Aleixandri and Yui Hasegawa were forced out from Sunday's game due to fitness concerns, and they remain questionable for tomorrow.

Previously: Through grit, perseverance and the patience to deal with shots hitting the side-netting, Chelsea overcame a one-goal disadvantage to keep our unbeaten record going in the Women's Super League.
