After a 9th place finish last season, not to mention a 6th and a 7th in recent years, West Ham United find themselves struggling in 14th at the moment, seemingly moving backwards despite some heavy spending last summer.

Everyone from the sporting director on down is under pressure to turn things around, which may or may not involved further transfer market activity this month.

And according to The Telegraph, part of that activity may be a new midfielder, with Chelsea's Carney Chukwuemeka and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall on their "radar". While not specified, presumably these would be loan moves of some kind, just as in the previous rumors concerning Chukwuemeka, linking him to the likes of AC Milan and Celtic.

Meanwhile, Dewsbury-Hall seems to have fallen completely out of favor with Enzo Maresca, despite their success together last season, and has made just two substitute appearances in the Premier League in the last three months, usually not even getting named in the matchday squad. It's a strange situation and him leaving in January might make it even stranger, but that may be the best for all involved.
