Chelsea have made the decision to bring Aaron Anselmino back to the club in the January transfer window and end his return to Boca Juniors early.
That's according to journalist César Luis Merlo, who reports that Boca have already been made aware of Chelsea's plans.
The Blues signed Anselmino from Boca in the summer in a deal worth €16.5m, with the youngster earning plenty of admirers after rising through the ranks at Boca.
The 21-year-old is very much one for the future and because of that they agreed to loan him back to Boca Juniors for this season to continue his development in Argentina.
That original deal was due to run until June next year, but Merlo now reports that Chelsea have decided that won't be the case.
According to his information, Chelsea have 'brought back' the youngster early. Boca have been notified of the decision and the Argentine defender will be moving to Stamford Bridge in the January transfer window rather than next summer.
What his role will then be remains to be seen. Enzo Maresca is not short of central defensive options, with Levi Colwill, Axel Disasi, Wesley Fofana, Benoit Badiashile, Tosin Adarabioyo and Renato Veiga all currently in the squad.
The decision has been made either way and he will be returning next month, ahead of schedule after Chelsea made their choice.
