'Tis the season!

Enzo Fernández is approaching his second anniversary at Chelsea, but unlike in his personal life, thankfully this relationship seems to be going strongly in a positive direction.

It wasn't always so. It's probably fair to say that Enzo has not shown consistently why we decided to make him our record signing back in January 2023, but the best young player at the preceding World Cup is finally starting to make a real impact on the pitch for us, too.

As usual, some credit for that uptick in performances should go to the coaching staff, but it's also certainly helpful that Enzo's now injury-free as well, after playing through a sports hernia for much of last season. Fully fit and healthy, Enzo's now feeling the best he's felt yet at the Bridge.

"When I arrived it was very difficult, the first year and a half here: change of coaches, the club wasn't doing well, personal injuries. [The price tag] didn't affect me. I tried to take it responsibly, with enjoyment, without pressure. I was not satisfied with what I had been showing, then I got injured, many adverse things happened..."

"[Maresca] explained to me what he wanted and I was getting the concept, reading the games. There is still a long way to go. On a personal level I have been feeling very good. The team has shown a very strong character, always working and with humility and showing that great things can be achieved."

Enzo's growing influence on the pitch and in the dressing room has been a key development for our successes so far this season, and we will likely need that to continue in that same vein to make the step up to true title-contenders.

¡Vamos!
