Fabrizio Romano shares update on Chelsea's pursuit of attacking reinforcements

Fabrizio Romano has reported that Chelsea consider Nicolas Jackson "untouchable" and that the club are internally discussing a new striker and right footed winger.
The Blues have been busy in the market and have already made five signings with Tosin Adarabioyo, Omari Kellyman, Marc Guiu and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall all arriving at Stamford Bridge, whilst a deal for Brazilian wonderkid Estevao Willian has been wrapped up with the teenager set to join in 2025.
Chelsea are closing in on their sixth signing having agreed a deal with Swiss side FC Basel worth €14m for Portugal under-20 international Renato Veiga, but that's unlikely to be the end of their business.
Nicolas Jackson "untouchable at Chelsea"
It's no secret that Chelsea are looking for a striker to compete with Nicolas Jackson, who scored 14 Premier League goals in his debut season.
Despite signing teenager Marc Guiu from Barcelona, the Blues are reportedly still in the market for a striker as they look for more firepower to get them back into the Champions League next season.
The club have been linked with a whole host of names including Aston Villa's Jhon Duran, Atletico Madrid's Samu Omorodion and Lille's Jonathan David.
The Blues even made an ambitious enquiry to Newcastle over Alexander Isa in an attempt to take advantage of any financial difficulties the Magpies were facing, but as expected nothing serious materialised.
It had been reported that Chelsea had discussed Jackson potentially being part of a deal, but that was shutdown, and Romano has now given an update on the 23-year-old.
"Nicolas Jackson considered currently untouchable by Chelsea, club still discussing new potential striker internally, and the right footed winger," he told The Here We Go Podcast.
"Important to say, Chelsea believe Guiu can cover striker position very well in the future."
It feels like Chelsea may delay a decision over a striker until they have seen how Guiu does in pre-season and how well Christopher Nkunku does in the number nine position.
If the Blues didn't sign another striker it feels like they would be taking a gamble heading into the new season with an inexperienced Guiu, Jackson in just his second campaign and Nkunku who is coming off the back of an injury plagued campaign.
