"Fresh contacts were made" – Chelsea stepped up pursuit for defender yesterday
Yesterday at 08:35 AM
Chelsea have stepped up their pursuits to sign a new defender yesterday by making fresh contacts to try and sign him, per a report today.
We are seeing news story after news story come in right now as it has all become very busy on the Chelsea transfer rumour mills.
EXCLUSIVE!! Chelsea held an internal recruitment meeting on Sunday to make a decision on new signing this month!
Even just now we have seen that Chelsea have now set their asking price for Bayern Munich to sign Christopher Nkunku this window, should they wish to. They have been linked with a move and apparently Nkunku has even agreed personal terms to join them. So this one looks ON.
And as well as Nkunku potentially leaving the club, we are seeing plenty of rumours for potential new arrivals this window as well.
Chelsea continue to be linked with wanting to re-sign Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace, a player who of course came from Chelsea.
Our reporter Simon Phillips has a very interesting update on this via his Substack site today.
Fresh contacts made
Phillips says Chelsea made fresh contacts with Palace regarding Guehi yesterday.
He writes:
'With sources hearing fresh contacts were made with Palace yesterday [Monday the 13th Jan].
'They are also discussing Trevoh Chalobah with them, and a recall there could very much still be the outcome we end up with.
'But we have also heard that Chelsea have been trying to get Guehi's fee down even more by negotiating a potential permanent sale of Chalobah to Palace, whether that happens now or in the summer.
'But Guehi is THE priority, and Chelsea are pushing to sign him with ongoing talks with Palace right now.'
