Cesare Casadei has revealed that he's not planning to leave Chelsea in January despite it being clear he's not going to feature regularly for the Blues.

Casadei arrived at Stamford Bridge from Italian giants Inter Milan for an initial £12.6m in 2022 and has had loan spells at both Reading and Leicester during his time at the club.

The Italian actually worked under Enzo Maresca at Leicester but was recalled by Chelsea in January after just six months at the King Power.

The midfielder made 22 appearances in the Championship for the Foxes in the first half of last season, but only featured sparingly for the Blues over the second half of the season.

Despite making 11 appearances, all of which came from the bench he only played 71 minutes in total and it was expected that Casadei would be one of the players to leave the club this summer.

The 21-year-old didn't go on Chelsea's pre-season tour of America and it appeared he wasn't a big part of Maresca's plans, but he ended staying at the club.

Competition for places in midfield is fierce, with the Italian well down the pecking order and he's yet to play a single minute in the Premier League.

The cup competitions appear to be Casadei's best chance of getting minutes and he's completed the full 90 against both Barrow and Gent, but it's unlikely he's going to force his way into contention in the league.

Given he's still young and regular minutes are proving hard to come by at Chelsea a loan move in January would make sense to help his development, but in a recent interview Casadei has revealed he isn't planning for a winter exit.

"I decided to stay at Chelsea in the summer as I spoke to Maresca and he's been very clear," he told Tutto Sport as cited on X.com.

"I didn't have any doubt, I decided to stay and didn't consider any loan proposal."

"I'm so proud to be at Chelsea and I'm not planning for January move."
