Jadon Sancho has lauded the potential of Chelsea youngster Tyrique George and said the 18-year-old has ‘the world at his feet’.

George, who first joined the Chelsea academy at the Under-8 level, has continued his rise through the age groups with a series of impressive performances for the U21s this season.

Such displays have clearly caught the eye of the first team, with George making a number of appearances in the Carabao Cup and Conference League.

And earlier this month, the teenager made his first start for the senior team in the 8-0 thrashing of FC Noah at Stamford Bridge.

With the club keen to highlight his achievement on social media, Sancho joined in, posting about his teammate: ‘Tyrique has the world at his feet, top guy and such a humble human being.

‘Deserves every bit of success coming his way! See you at training on Monday bro’

It marks a full-circle moment for George who once asked for a picture with Sancho when he was just 11 years old.

‘We definitely recreating this picture!’ Sancho jokingly added.

Reflecting on the photo and his journey up to this point George told the Chelsea website: ‘I think most Chelsea fans have seen that picture as it’s somehow resurfaced again.

‘That picture was taken years ago and I had no idea I would be playing with him back then.

‘I was with my dad and brother on our way to training when we saw Jadon with his friends. My dad suggested we ask for a picture and I was nervous but excited to do it. I've always admired Jadon as he is such a great player.

‘It's crazy and surreal to think I am now playing with someone I've always looked up to – not just Jadon, but the rest of the Chelsea squad.

‘It makes me speechless. Sometimes when I look around in the changing room with the team, I still can't believe this is my life right now.

‘Seeing the picture is a nice reminder of how far I have come and how my hard work has paid off. I have given everything since joining Chelsea and it's a good feeling to see the outcome.’
