Woo!

Chelsea women are currently in Portugal for a warm-weather training camp ahead of the second half of the season, which resumes this weekend with a Women's FA Cup match against Charlton Athletic.

But it looks like we're also putting in some work behind the scenes, with the club announcing contract extensions for Aniek Nouwen and Guro Reiten in the last couple days.

Nouwen has been out for 13 months, missing all of 2024, after suffering an ACL injury the prior December. Like her fellow ACL victims from that time, Sam Kerr and Mia Fishel, Nouwen has been working her way back from this major injury and should be returning to action fairly soon-ish. The one-year extension, through the summer of 2026, should allow her to do so comfortably and without pressure.

And in even more momentous news, we also have a one-year contract extension for the one and only Guro Reiten, who's now in her sixth season at Chelsea and recently made her 100th WSL appearance. And she's having perhaps her best season yet, with 8 goals in 16 appearances in all competitions for new manager Sonia Bompastor, who finished the first half of the season without a single defeat.

Congrats, Guro and Aniek! Let's keep winning all the things!

P.S.: And Chelsea have also confirmed the recall of Louna Ribadeira from her loan at Paris FC, where the 20-year-old forward has not played much. Presumably she will be targeting a different loan assignment for the rest of the season.
