Not quite as planned

Ronnie Stutter went on loan to Burton Albion in the final days of the summer transfer window, but despite what appeared to be ideal conditions for him there, he's barely played for the third division side, managing just one, 20-minute appearance off the bench back in early October. He's had to deal with a few injuries, but having had three managers (two permanent, one lengthy interim) also hasn't helped. Unsurprisingly, Chelsea have now recalled the young forward on the first day of the January transfer window.

Stutter was the third Chelsea player to join Burton at the start of this season, following Dylan Williams (also on loan) and Charlie Webster, who signed permanently after Chelsea under-21 boss Mark Robinson was appointed the manager. Unfortunately for all involved, Robinson failed to win any of his first 13 league games in charge, and was summarily sacked in October.

Williams, who was a regular under Robinson, was subsequently dropped, tough he did finally get a start again yesterday, on New Year's Day against Peterborough and collected an assist, so hopefully things will pick back up for him. (Webster's has been doing fine after recovering from his injury and making his debut, also in October — busy month, that!)

In any case, Stutter's back at Chelsea and as he's about to turn 20 years old, perhaps will try his luck with another loan assignment for the rest of the season.
