Good luck, Aniek!
Having spent all of calendar year 2024 on the sidelines recovering from an ACL injury, Chelsea defender Aniek Nouwen is looking to step things up in the new year.
To help finish the recovery process now, she needs minutes above all else, which is hopefully precisely what will happen the rest of the season after her loan move to Crystal Palace on deadline day. Nouwen signed a one-year contract extension through 2026 earlier this month as well, which should give her the time and stability to not rush the process.
Palace sit rock bottom of the Women's Super League, four points from safety. But there's still almost half the season to go, so if they could shore up their league-worst defense, they may yet survive. Palace head coach Laura Kaminski is hoping to put the 25-year-old's experience to good use.
"She is a talented defender and will bring quality and experience to our squad."
