"That can't be true" – Chelsea insider's reaction to transfer was the same as ours

We've had a long stretch without any Matt Law speaking on Chelsea transfers, but with January now in full swing we get the full dose.

He was on the London is Blue podcast this week updating us on all the potential outgoings and incomings. One potential transfer they went into particular detail on was the rumours of a Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall departure from the club, just 6 months after he was signed.

Law admits that when he heard about it in the summer, his reaction had been "no, that can't be true."

Well, most of us felt the same way, and here we are just a short time later with the midfielder being linked with a move away.

You can see their chat in the clip embedded here, with this section coming after 2 minutes:

Law says Chelsea want a sale, not a loan for unwanted midfielder

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall in Chelsea shirt.

"It is brutal, and I was surprised that when I made a check on it yesterday that the message I got was that they would prefer to sell him than loan him. that they want to sell him," Law said.

"Pretty much. He's just not… this wasn't explicitly said to me, but he's clearly just not achieved the level they thought he would achieve or would be able to achieve."

Well, that sums up the move pretty comprehensively. KDH just isn't a good enough player for where Chelsea are or where they want to be.

We just wonder what the reasoning behind the move in the first place was? The idea that it was all done as some sort of PSR fiddle for Leicester who in return let us off some of the fee for Enzo Maresca seems like a crazy conspiracy theory – but can you think of a better explanation for the deal?
