Defeat for women's team

Chesterfield FC Women were at home this afternoon for their final game of 2024, against Dronfield. The side unfortunately fell to a 3-0 defeat in the blustery conditions. The Spireites started off well with some good play down the left-hand side, and Millie Pinkney having a chance after taking on multiple opposition defenders. It was Dronfield, however, who took the lead in the ninth minute against the run of play after their striker was played through for a one-on-one with 'keeper Rhianne Carroll. Around ten minutes later, Hayley Hulme played a brilliant ball over the top to Rebecca Lilleyman who drove into the box, but her shot was just over the bar. The Spireites struggled to get hold of the ball in the second half with the conditions making it hard to play and Dronfield added a second in the 60th minute from close range. With just under 20 minutes of the game left, Carroll made an excellent and brave save from a dangerous Dronfield cross, but the head injury she sustained for her efforts meant that she had to be replaced in goal by defender Megan Breeze.
