Markanday on target as Spireites draw with Cheltenham

Chesterfield were held to a 1-1 draw with Cheltenham Town at the SMH Group Stadium on Saturday lunchtime. Dilan Markanday's second goal in Chesterfield colours was cancelled out by Arkell Jude-Boyd's second-half strike. Paul Cook made two changes from the 1-0 defeat to Port Vale, with Darren Oldaker and Kane Drummond replacing Ollie Banks and Will Grigg. Keeper Ryan Boot was forced into an early save by Luke Young's low free-kick. Markanday set up Armando Dobra in the penalty area, but his shot lacked power and was kept out by Owen Evans. Chesterfield went in front in the 27th minute through Markanday, who found the net from close range after some clever footwork from James Berry to set up the Blackburn loanee. Chey Dunkley headed wide from Markanday's corner with four first-half minutes remaining, before Dobra found the side-netting after spinning past Sam Stubbs on the left wing. Dobra drew a strong save from Evans in first-half stoppage time after going for goal from the edge of the box.
