MP represents Spireites in Parliamentary debate

Chesterfield MP Toby Perkins last week took part in a debate in Parliament on the football governance bill. Explaining the background to the bill, Toby said: "It's primarily trying to make sure that football, which is an incredibly important national institution and our football clubs, which are incredibly important local institutions, have a bit of a fairer distribution of the huge wealth that there is in the sport. "Unfortunately, it is hugely centred around the Premier League. One of the things that came out in the debate was that 94% of all the revenue in football, across the 92 clubs, is every year in the pockets of the Premier League and those clubs who receive parachute payments. "This means that you’ve got this huge gap developing in large parts of the EFL, which is an incredibly important league but really struggling to get by.
