Victory for Chesterfield FC Women

Chesterfield FC Women were back in league action this afternoon, beating Buxton 2-1. The Spireites started off well, enjoying possession and pressing from the off, but it was Buxton who took the lead in the fourth minute. A pin-point ball found Buxton’s number 9 who put the ball away from a couple of yards out. Despite going behind early, Chesterfield continued to press and had a few chances of their own. Millie Pinkney cut through the Buxton defence before putting a shot just over the bar, which Steph O’Brien rattled with a long-range shot minutes later. The equaliser came in the 40th minute when Megan Breeze played a brilliant through ball to Lucy Graham who made no mistake to make it 1-1. The Spireites had the upper hand in the second half, constantly pressing and enjoying possession. Maddie Watkinson and O’Brien had chances whilst Chesterfield pushed for the lead. The winner came in the 72nd minute when Pinkney got on the end of another great through ball, this time from Hayley Hulme, finding the net to make it 2-1.
