Ahead of the visit of Liverpool for the early Saturday kick off, we had a chat with Reds fan Kirsty to get the low down on the feeling in and around Anfield, their start to the season and much more.

TEB – How was pre-season for Liverpool? What fixtures did you have and were there any standout players?

KIRSTY – I must admit I did not get an opportunity to catch much of the pre-season campaign this year. We were back playing fixtures in the USA which we haven’t done for a while and I know there were some attendance records broken which was good to see. I think it was a great opportunity for Arne Slot to start tinkering with his preferred starting starting line up and he seemed to instantly get the best out of Luis Diaz.

TEB – Are you happy with Liverpool’s summer transfer business? Were there any areas not strengthened that should have been?

KIRSTY – I was not particularly overwhelmed to be honest with you. I have a big interest in Italian football though so when we managed to sign Chiesa I was really pleased as I think he is a fantastic player and only strengthens our attacking options. Initially it felt as though we needed a natural number six for the midfield but Slot’s work with Ryan Gravenberch makes it feel like we’ve partly solved that issue now. Another defender would have been nice, I’m still concerned one injury at the back could significantly knock us.

TEB – It’s been a strong start at the club for Arne Slot after the Klopp era ended. What are your thoughts so far on the new boss and is the style much different to his predecessor?

KIRSTY – I really like him, he’s calm and collected and holds a good presence with the media from what I have seen. His style I feel is similar to Klopp but more controlled, less heavy metal football and more composed jazz, if that makes any sense? Haha! I think he has really started to get the most out of players like Gravenberch and Diaz and I’m really excited to see how he enhances the rest of the side in future.

TEB – Expectations for this season?

KIRSTY – Klopp left Slot a fantastic team so I always hoped we’d put in a decent showing this season no matter how fast or slow a start the new manager got. However, my expectations now after watching our first few matches have increased. I think we can challenge for the title, assuming we don’t get any major injury issues and can avoid too many slip ups like the one against Nottingham Forest, I think we’ll be up there.

TEB – As a fan of a team involved in the new format, how are you finding the Champions League so far as a table layout instead of the groups we had before?

KIRSTY – I understand why they have tried to change it but for me I’m finding the early stages far less exciting. I love the Champions League, always have done since I was a kid, but so far it’s taken some of the enjoyment out of it. I’m sure this will improve as we complete more matches. On the flip side, I caught some of the Aston Villa highlights and they seem to be really enjoying themselves!

TEB – If you could sign one current player from Palace, who would it be?

KIRSTY – I really like Marc Guehi, I thought he had a great summer with England and as mentioned earlier, I’d have felt better if we’d bought a defender this year!

TEB – Favourite away day in the Premier League?

KIRSTY – Wolves, because I get to gloat to the husband when we beat them!

TEB – Predictions for the game including final score?

I’ll have to go with 3-1 to Liverpool. You guys seem to be a bit up and down at the moment, the draws with Chelsea and United were good results but then you managed to lose to Everton!
