After the joy of the weekend, the Eagles get back to business with back-to-back games with Arsenal in the cup and the league.

MATCH INFORMATION

18 December 2024 – 7.30pm (League Cup)
Emirates Stadium, Hornsey Road, London N7 7AJ

PREVIOUS MEETING

20/01/2024 – It was not a pretty sight on the last trip to the Emirates as the much publicised banners were held up in the away end with a sad looking Roy Hodgson looking on. That was after a demolition by the hosts who went into the break leading by two goals thanks to a Gabriel brace. The game was put beyond the Eagles by Leandro Trossard in the second half before Gabriel Martinelli added to the pain with a late double for himself.

ONE TO WATCH

ETHAN NWANERI
FORMER CLUBS – none
It is very likely that the 17 year old attacking midfielder will feature in this game having already made 11 appearances for the Gunners this season. The youngster is very highlight rated at the club which is why he has featured for the first team at such a young age. It will be interesting to see how his career progresses.

KEY CLASH

EDDIE NKETIAH v WILLIAM SALIBA
Perhaps an easy selection but the former Arsenal striker is desperate to get on the score sheet having netted once for the Eagles, away at QPR in an earlier round of this competition. Going back to the club for the first time since they sold him to the Eagles will be all the encouragement he needs. While it is difficult to guess which of his former teammates he will be up against, after his cameo against Brighton at the weekend, many Palace fans will be cheering him on to hit the back of the net in this cup tie.

TEB PREDICTION

As has been the case in previous rounds of this competition, it is clear how Oliver Glasner will approach this game and his only call will be who to replace the suspended Daniel Munoz with. As for the opponents, they are challenging on several fronts and it is hard to second guess what Mikel Arteta will be thinking ahead of naming his starting line up. However, the Gunners have faltered in recent weeks and there could just be an opportunity for Palace to reach the semi finals. We are going bold as Glasner has cup pedigree.

PREDICTED SCORE: 2-1 to Palace
