Silva More Important To Fulham Than Any Player
Today at 02:32 PM
Fulham are the visitors to South London this weekend in the last fixture before the final international break of the year.
Ahead of the fixture, we had a chat with the lovely guys at FFC Voice about the upcoming fixture, season so far and much more….
TEB – Are you happy with the summer transfer business by Fulham? Were there any areas not strengthened that should have been?
FFCV – The biggest difference was that we didn’t leave all our business until the last minute, we’ve consistently done that over the years. To get Emile Smith-Rowe in early and get Joao Palhinha moved on for the right money set us up for the rest of the summer. We are also starting to see how good Sander Berge could be for us after getting his chance due to an injury to Sasa Lukic. The one spot I think we could have strengthened was up front, but overall most fans will say the business has been good
TEB – It’s been a good start to the season for Fulham. What are your thoughts so far and what can Palace expect to face in terms of football style?
FFCV – It has been a good start but also there is a feeling of what might have been. We were cruising against West Ham and Everton only to throw away the win on both occasions with soft late late goals. Only the Villa game have we looked off the pace. In terms of style of play you’ll see us get the ball wide and the full backs will join, overlap and cross. Marco Silva plays a 4-2-3-1 and rarely deviates from it.
TEB – Are you happy with Marco Silva in charge and is he the man to take your club forward?
FFCV – Absolutely, he is more important to the club than any player. It won’t be long before he is linked to bigger jobs but you’ll struggle to find a Fulham fan who doesn’t think the world of him
TEB – Expectations for this season?
FFCV – As a pessimistic Fulham fan (how can you not be), making sure we stay up is always the first thought but seeing the way we have started and the squad we have, we have to be looking at the top ten.
TEB – Palace will welcome former player in Joachim Andersen at the weekend. What are your thoughts on the Dane and are you pleased to have him back at Craven Cottage?
FFCV – Obviously, we had him before and when we were linked with him in the summer I’m not sure any Fulham fan believed it to be anything other than just another rumour so when it came to fruition, it was a real surprise. He was exactly what we needed to play next to Calvin Bassey. A leader, good defender but also excellent on the ball. He has made a good start to his second spell for sure.
TEB – If you could sign one current player from Palace, who would it be?
FFCV – The obvious answer is Ebere Eze. A top player, he just makes it look very easy but not sure there would be room for him and Smith-Rowe so I think I’d take one of your forwards, Jean-Philippe Mateta would be my pick.
TEB – Favourite away day in the Premier League?
FFCV – The local derbies for sure. It just means more! The games against QPR were always spicy which I guess have been replaced now with Brentford. I just find the newer bigger grounds a little soulless.
TEB – Predictions for the game including final score?
FFCV – There are no easy away games in the Premier League, but we are playing well. Silva will absolutely set us up to win, he doesn’t know how to do anything else. 2-1 Fulham (Andersen brace )
