90+10' - Beto does well making a nuisance of himself in the opposing box.
And there's the final whistle!! Everton have won 1-0 away at Brighton!!
OH IT'S ALL KICKING OFF NOW! PLAYERS FROM BOTH SIDES IN A MELEE, LOTS OF FINGERS BEING POINTED AND HANDS IN FACES. Feels like we're not done here quite yet, surely there's going to be more cards here. We'll post more as we hear about it.
90+9' - Ball into the box, Pedro heads onwards and Pickford collects. How much more time ref?
90+7' - Brighton have another corner and goalie Verbruggen is in the box! Pickford punches clear, looks like he caught Van Hecke too and they both fall awkwardly, ref says foul to Everton.
90+6' - Gana with composed control in his own box, gets away and finds Beto in acres of space. Beto beats Dunk but then is overhauled by another defender.
90+4' - Mitoma makes a cut and can get a dangerous cross in, Tarky cuts it out for a corner.
Corner is cleared, ball back into the box and a Brighton player is offside. Both Myko and JOB are down with cramp, but get back up.
90+3' - Mitoma gets around O'Brien but the tall defender puts in a meaty sliding challenge leaving the winger writhing around. Corner is cleared.
90+2' - The ball is in the Brighton half and the Blues are doing well in front of their travelling fans to hold the ball there.
90+1' - Cross into the box, O'Riley heads wide. Baleba goes off and Webster is on, Brighton's last change.
90' - Eight or so minutes to be added on here.
88' - Welbeck shot deflected by Branthwaite for a corner. Tarkowski heads it away and Garner can break, gets it to Beto who does decently enough holding the ball, but cannot find a teammate.
Now he's on the ground clutching his lower leg and the physio is on. We're going to get double digits time added on at this rate.
83' - Pickford claims a high ball into the box. Mangala cannot continue and has headed straight to dressing rooms. Down to ten men. Everton have only used four subs, but have used all three substitution windows so cannot replace the midfielder.
Joao Pedro goes in the book for a foul on Gueye.
80' - Veltman goes through Mangala to win the ball, and the Everton midfielder is down clutching his knee. He's up and moving gingerly.
78' - Baleba blasts another shot over. Ndiaye and Doucoure are coming off, and Young and Garner are on. Welcome back Jimmy, he's been out since October.
76' - Ball falls kindly to Beto and he heads towards goal, fires his shot into the side netting though truth be told he was never really threatening the goal.
73' - Gana slides in to stop Rutter and ref says freekick, about 25 yards out. Welbeck and Ayari over it, short routine with the former taking it and it's well wide.
Two changes, Minteh and Hinschelwood are on with Lamptey and Ayari off.
71' - Pickford goes in the book now for timewasting.
Poor back pass from Veltman and Beto goes sliding in on Verbruggen, the Brighton goalie gets to the ball a split second before him.
69' - Branthwaite makes a mess of a long ball and it falls for Rutter who spins and shoots, fizzes just wide of Pickford's right post.
68' - Apparently Everton's possession is at 14% for the second half. Feels like it for sure.
The travelling support are unfazed as 'Spirit of the Blues' rings out loud and clear across the ground.
65' - Everton are in a 6-2-2 now. Doucs and Beto, Mangala and Gana, and then everyone else in the backline.
63' - Branthwaite doesn't clear well, ball falls to Ayari but his mishit shot goes over.
61' - Gueye is down with a non-contact injury and play is stopped. The Blues really needed this pause in play. Patterson is warming up and ready to come on here, it'll be Lindstrom going off.
60' - The ball is bouncing about in the box, and Tarky tucks it out for another corner. Yeesh.
This one is finally cleared all the way back to Verbruggen.
58' - Lamptey's cross, Pickford mistimes his punch, Pedro takes a shot that is deflected, up in the air and about to drop onto the bar, Pickford punches out for a corner.
Corner cleared, only as far as Baleba, hammers a shot goalwards and is blocked by Branthwaite for another corner.
55' - Everton have been able to clear their box repeatedly, but with no possession of the ball outside that, Brighton are getting it right back and are able to ratchet up the pressure.
Corner to the hosts on the Everton left, cleared.
51' - Now Everton can hold the ball and break though Ndiaye, he charges down the left, centres for Doucoure who apparently has his lead boots on today because he promptly gives the ball away.
50' - Ooh. Mitoma cuts inside O'Brien and has enough time to shoot, lucky for Everton it doesn't have enough curl and goes out wide of the far post.
49' - Brighton pushing hard here, Lindstrom is beaten but the ball falls to an Everton shirt in the box and the Blues can clear.
47' - Lamptey looks to have switched wings, Mitoma gets to the goalline and his blocked cross comes to Veltman, his shot is wild, threatening the far corner flag.
Brighton come again and win a corner on the Everton right, but the Blues can clear.
46' - The second half is underway, will Moyes be able to quell Hürzeler's adjustments? Brighton have made a change, Gruder is out and Rutter is on for him.
Halftime Thoughts - Everton repelled the early push from Brighton and Moyes made the necessary changes to slow the game down. Going exactly to plan for the Blues here at the Amex.
45+8' - The halftime whistle goes, Everton lead 1-0 against Brighton.
45+4' - Baleba tries a shot from far, far away and it's well wide.
45+2' - Baleba's frustration starting to show here as he goes right through the Amex's Public Enemy #1 Ndiaye, and he's booked too.
45' - We're going to have seven (!!) minutes added on here.
44' - Ndiaye is booked for his overexuberant celebrations, did look like he was taunting the home crowd. Oops.

42' - Lindstrom protected the penalty spot during the melee, and now Ndiaye steps up to take the penalty.. deep breath.. GOAL!! Pushes it past Verbruggen into the left corner of the goal, the goalie had guessed right but the placement was perfect. Everton lead 1-0!
38' - Some drama here. Veltman and Beto both fighting for the ball moving towards the goalline, and it looked like the Brighton player punched the ball out for a corner! VAR is looking at it now, and ref Tim Robinson is being sent to the screen. He says penalty!
The Amex is not thrilled at all by the decision but it was a stupid decision for Veltman to do what he did.
34' - Not much going on here to be honest. If Everton's goal is to slow the game down and make it dull and boring, then it's working.
28' - Pedro shot blocked by Tarkowski. Lamptey cross blocked by O'Brien.
Now Lindstrom fouls Lamptey just outside the right edge of the box, and he'll be booked too. Ayari swings it into the six-yard box, Pickford punches clear and the immediate threat is quelled.
27' - Everton moving the ball through the middle and pushing forward, but Mitoma hunts Gana down much like the Everton midfielder usually does himself.
23' - The battles are being fought in the middle - Doucoure wins the ball, Ayari steals it, then Gana nicks it off him.
20' - Brighton are mostly dictating play here, though the Blues are keeping them at arm's length. Ndiaye is looking the liveliest of the lot here.
14' - Everton almost got gifted a goal there. Doucoure finds Beto in the box and he cannot control a simple pass. Baleba takes the ball and then overruns it and gets in a bind with Verbruggen and lucky for them the ball goes out for a corner.
Corner is easily cleared.
Getting a striker in during this January transfer window just became that much more important.#EFC

12' - Uh-oh. Dominic Calvert-Lewin goes up for a ball and comes back down clutching his right hamstring. That might be the end of his game here.
Beto is warmed up and comes on for DCL now.
10' - Brighton are focusing on the Everton right with both Lamptey and Mitoma getting some joy against Lindstrom and O'Brien.
A cross into the box is met by Joao Pedro and he heads well over.
7' - Brighton are hemming Everton in their own box and have a blocked shot that falls to Gruder but he's offside.
4' - Lamptey cuts inside O'Brien and beats him to a long ball, but his ball across the box is neither a shot nor a cross and Everton survive.
3' - Ndiaye's effort wins the Blues a throw-in deep in the Seagulls half. Mykolenko tries to weave through a third player but it's one too far.
1' - And we're underway at the Amex. Everton in their grey and yellow away kit here
Starting Lineups
Everton - Moyes decides not to mess with a good things with both O'Brien and Lindstrøm keeping their spots.

Preview
The good feelings are back at Everton after that win against Tottenham Hotspur last weekend. However, the Blues face a different and in many ways more difficult challenge today when they travel to the south coast to take on Brighton & Hove Albion.
The Seagulls are unbeaten since the middle of December, though like Everton a number of those results were draws. In their last home game they held Arsenal to a draw and then picked up two away wins on the trot against Ipswich Town and Manchester United. Brighton sit in ninth place and are in contention for a European berth, just four points off fourth place Manchester City.

Last Meeting
The Blues do not have a good recent record against the high-flying Seagulls; however, they are unbeaten in their last four visits to the Amex Stadium, including two wins, one of which was the memorable 5-1 victory late in the 2022-23 season to help seal survival.
The two sides met at Goodison Park to open the current season in a game which did not go well for the hosts, with Brighton coming away 3-0 winners.
