The young forward goes the other way with Tim Iroegbunam joining the Blues

Everton today announced the departure of forward Lewis Dobbin, with the 21-year-old joining Aston Villa for the remainder of his contract which is set to expire at the end of the coming season.

While the official statement does not state a transfer fee, reliable sources seem to indicate that the two clubs settled on a £10 million valuation for the player. A similar situation had unfolded yesterday with midfielder Tim Iroegbunam joining the Toffees for £9m, another transfer fee that seemed higher than expected.

Everton can bank the £10m as straight profit, and the £9m they paid for Iroegbunam will be amortized over the three year period of his contract, leaving the Blues ahead for the 2023-24 season.

In a statement on the Everton website, the club thanked the player for his services while wishing him all the best for his future, with the youngster having joined the Academy at the age of 11.

The Blues have been busy in the transfer market with the financial year deadline coming up in a week, and all indications are there could be more happening in the coming days with Everton wanting £37m for Dominic Calvert-Lewin with Newcastle United interested, and exciting young winger Yankuba Minteh possibly going the other way.
