Fenerbahce have publically backed Jose Mourinho and called out criticism from commentator Ertem Şener as the Portuguese manager continues to be linked with Everton.

The Turkish club posted on their account on X today with a 'mandatory disclosure' in which they called out Ertem Şener's recent comments on Mourinho.

The Portuguese coach has found himself facing criticism this season as Fenerbahce sit eight points behind leaders Galatasaray after 17 games of the season.

President Ali Koç has already admitted to a meeting with the club's board and Mourinho to discuss the situation and ensure they were all on the same page moving forwards.

That came amid consistent reports that Mourinho is being lined up by Everton, who have today sacked Sean Dyche and are officially on the hunt for a new manager. The Portuguese boss is currently the bookmaker's favourites for the position.

And now they've come out to publically defender their man, with a statement against Şener that could very much be seen as an attempt to convince Mourinho that they are very much on his side at this moment in time.

"Ertem Şener, who tried to take our Technical Director Jose Mourinho’s rightful criticism about football dynamics to a different ground in a mannerless manner with the aim of gaining interaction on social media, has exceeded his limits and boundaries," it said.

"We inform him that no one can speak to our Technical Director, who has no value and brand identity in world football, in this ugly manner, and that no one can be impudent and disrespectful."

Whether Mourinho is in the running for Everton, remains to be seen. Reports in England have insisted that he is not in the running and won't be considered by the Friedkin Group, who worked with him at Roma.

That may prove to be the case, but it seems Fenerbahce are taking no risks and want it publically known they're backing Mourinho against current criticism.
