Rival to 'fight with' Nottingham Forest and Everton for player – Club keen on January deal

Earlier this week, we covered claims from Spain that Nottingham Forest and Everton were Gonzalo Montiel’s interested parties from the summer. It was also suggested the Premier League duo could be presented with a second chance to sign him in January.
The Reds had the right-back on loan last season. They decided against exercising the buying option and then tried to sign him again in the last window.
Nottingham Forest are still showing interest in the 27-year-old, along with Everton and a few other clubs.
Pasión Fútbol report this when covering River Plate’s intention to bring their former player back to the club.
The Argentina international is limited to 101 minutes from four matches of which 11 of them were from three league games. A move back to his former club could see him enjoy more minutes.
River Plate manager Marcelo Gallardo would welcome the fullback with open arms as he dreams of Montiel’s return.
The South American club will have to ‘fight with’ other clubs, including Nottingham Forest and Everton, to secure his services. In addition to this, their intention is to sign him on a one-year loan deal. This could make it difficult for River Plate to secure his services.
Over at La Colina de Nervión, they state Sevilla failed to offload him in the summer. It’s claimed the La Liga side will try again to part ways with Montiel, in order to get rid of his wages.
The outlet adds he has obtained a Spanish passport, meaning he will no longer be a non-EU player. They add this would favour some of his interested parties including Nottingham Forest, Everton, Borussia Dortmund and PSV Eindhoven.
His non-EU status shouldn’t make a difference for the two English clubs, if they decide to sign Montiel.
