Nottingham Forest drew 1-1 with Liverpool in a game that could have swung either way as the match progressed.

Forest went ahead when Chris Wood scored his 13th goal of the season in the eighth minute of the match. Liverpool had to wait until the 66th minute to equalise and did so when Diogo Jota rose the highest from a Kostas Tsimikas corner.

Slot had praised Wood in the lead-up to the match. The striker has been so influential this season and it’s hard to imagine where the club would be without his goals over the last 12 months.

There were other top performers last night too. Matz Sels was in fine form for Forest as he made a number of good saves, whilst Murillo produced the goods for the Reds against Liverpool too.

He was head and shoulders above any other player on the pitch and Murillo is such a fantastic footballer. The challenge for Forest remains keeping him at the club, with his future surely set for much bigger things.

Qualifying for European action might help Forest keep Murillo. The club are nicely posied to do that and hopefully, some sort of European competition can help the Reds in that quest when it comes to players.

After last night’s game, Murilo has reacted on Instagram. He posted: “This is Forest” along with a series of images of him defending the Forest goal from the game against Liverpool.

Murilo is so popular in the Forest dressing room. You can just tell when he’s out on the pitch that he has the respect of everyone and the fans love watching him play too.

Arsenal star – and Brazil teammate – Gabriel reacted to Murillo’s post. He posted the word ‘Craque’ which is a term of endearment in South America and the centre-back will be hoping to climb above Forest into second tonight.

Elsewhere, Sels called Murillo a ‘wall’ whilst Callum Hudson-Odoi posted a couple of star emojis perhaps suggesting that a bright future is on the cards for the Forest central defender.

Europe is a long way off for Forest just yet. However, the performances of late have been extremely positive and with Southampton to come next, the hope will be that another win can be on the cards on Sunday.
