Matz Sels shares what Nottingham Forest refuse to talk about after 1-1 draw vs Liverpool

Nottingham Forest were forced to settle for a point against Liverpool as the league leaders came from behind to earn a share of the spoils.
Forest were attempting to do the double over Liverpool this season. Arne Slot made a comical Forest claim in the build-up, quoting how much the Reds had spent in the transfer window.
Chris Wood was hailed by Slot in the build-up too. Clearly, his ego was boosted by those comments from the Liverpool boss as he opened the scoring after just eight minutes at the City Ground.
With 24 minutes remaining, Liverpool had their equaliser. Diogo Jota rose the highest to score despite only being on the pitch for a matter of seconds with the Portuguese performer introduced as a substitute.
Still, one point is better than none from a Forest perspective. Matz Sels was lauded by Jota after the game and he was put up for interview after guiding the Reds to a draw with some stunning stops.
Matz Sels shares what Forest refuse to talk about
The 33-year-old goalkeeper has been in fine form this season. Before last night he’d kept four consecutive clean sheets in the Premier League and he’s the top-performing stopper right now.
The team spirit at Forest looks to be sky-high at the moment. Forest are growing in confidence and there is genuine belief right now that anything can be achieved with this group of players.
Some have started to tout Forest for the Premier League title. That does feel like a bit of a stretch and Sels has confessed that nobody in the dressing room is even thinking about silverware.
He said in his post-match press conference: “We are not talking about this (the title). We want to finish as high as possible in the league. A lot of people before the season started said we would play against relegation so we need to enjoy the good momentum we are in. We take it game by game.”

Sels has been a fine player for Forest since signing for £5 million from Strasbourg. He was one of Nuno Espirito Santo’s first signings and in terms of value for money, he’s one of the best.

The Belgian must be knocking on the door of the Belgium national team. He wasn’t considered the nation’s number one for the last two rounds of international breaks but that will surely change in March.
Sels made some unbelievable saves against Liverpool. By the end of the night, the league leaders must have been sick of the sight of the goalkeeper and will be thankful they don’t have to face him again this season.
