Nottingham Forest were well beaten in North London at the weekend as Arsenal ran out 3-0 winners to get their faltering title bid back on track.

The Reds were trying to bounce back from a 3-1 defeat to Newcastle prior to the international break but were no match for the Gunners.

Mikel Arteta did praise Forest for their efforts but in reality, it was a one-sided affair settled by a clinical bunch of Arsenal players who might well be champions this season.

James Ward-Prowse was criticised by Forest fans for his efforts but in truth, there were a number of below-par performances.

Nuno Espirito Santo will work on defensive duties in training this week and Forest will hope to return to form against Ipswich at home on Saturday.

Murillo breaks Nottingham Forest media silence

It’s common knowledge that after a defeat, the players are advised to stay off of their social media platforms.

That isn’t a Forest thing per se but it’s an unwritten rule with a lot of professional football clubs when it comes to social media.

Yesterday, however, the media blackout must have been over, with Murillo taking to Instagram to send a message to the club’s supporters.

He shared a montage of photographs from the 3-0 defeat against Arsenal with the words: “We keep working.”

It was a disappointing afternoon at the Emirates Stadium but Murillo is the sort of player who always has a smile on his face.

With players of this ilk in the team, the bad form won’t last and Forest will hope to roar back to winning ways when Ipswich arrive on Trentside next weekend.

Murillo’s Forest performance in numbers vs Arsenal

According to Who Scored, Murillo was the fourth top-performing Forest player and the second-highest of anyone who played 90 minutes.

He completed 86.4% of his passes and had 58 touches of the ball during his 90 minutes on the pitch.

Defensively, he was pretty sound too. He made five clearances, blocked four shots and also made one tackle during the defeat.

Murillo has certainly played better than he did against Arsenal but this was still a relatively solid outing for the Brazilian.

Now, he will be trying desperately to help Forest claim a big three points next weekend as the Reds try to remain in the top half of the Premier League.
