An enthralling Premier League clash saw Nottingham Forest remain unbeaten during the 2024/25 Premier League campaign after drawing 2-2 with Brighton.

The Reds played the final 10 minutes with 10 men after Morgan Gibbs-White saw red for what the Premier League described as a reckless challenge.

This game shouldn’t have been about the officials, however, and Forest had to come from behind to win a share of the spoils.

Chris Wood fired Forest into the lead but goals from Jack Hinshelwood and Danny Welbeck gave the Seagulls a half-time advantage.

Ramon Sosa earned the point and it was no less than Forest deserved for their efforts during the opening 45 minutes.

Forest shouldn’t have been trailing at the break and for Roy Keane, the blame was firmly at one man’s doorstep.

Roy Keane slams Nottingham Forest star during draw vs Brighton

Keane is never backwards in coming forwards and he’s done the same here after Forest drew with Brighton.

His sharp-tongued critique actually came at half-time of this one as the Sky Sports studio discussed Welbeck firing Brighton into a lead.

Matz Sels seemingly built a wall and then went to cover the same side as the former England star bent his effort easily into the net.

Keane wasn’t impressed and felt the Belgian would have to take the flak for that one.

He told Sky Sports: “The goalkeeper should be fined a week’s wages. You can’t be beaten on that side.

“He’s taken a gamble, he’s set the wall, you can’t be beaten on that side. From the goalkeeper’s perspective, it’s not good enough.”

Sels now under pressure to keep Forest place

The Reds signed Carlos Miguel in the summer and now there is surely a decision for Nuno Espirito Santo to make regarding his goalkeeping department.

Forest chose not to sign a new goalkeeper in the summer and now it really is a choice to stick with Sels or twist and go with Miguel.

The man who signed from Corinthians in the summer made his debut against Newcastle in the Carabao Cup and produced a pretty decent performance.

Sels hasn’t really made too many glaring errors – even if he was fortunate not to add one of his own to a bloopers reel at Anfield last week.

Again, this wasn’t an error that a Premier League goalkeeper should be making and it really was a poor moment for the Belgian.

Setting up a wall should be fundamental at the elite level and it was somewhat schoolboy how it actually panned out.

Sels now faces an anxious wait to see if he keeps his place in the team for next week when Fulham come to the City Ground.
