Nottingham Forest were handed their first defeat of the season against Fulham at the weekend, which led to fans saying the same thing about Taiwo Awoniyi after the game.

Nuno Espirito Santo will need to pick up his players quickly as next up is a trip to Stamford Bridge to face one of the Premier League’s form sides in Chelsea.

The Blues are unbeaten in their last five top-flight games, scoring 15 goals in the process.

Chris Wood has led the line quite well for Forest already this season and has three goals to show for it in the Premier League, but he just couldn’t have much of an influence on the game against Fulham.

However, it was the decision to chuck Taiwo Awoniyi up front alongside Wood that proved to be the downfall, as it just didn’t work.

Since the game, fans have been reacting to the performance of Awoniyi on X.

Taiwo Awoniyi’s performance against Fulham

Taiwo Awoniyi just wasn’t able to offer anything in the 46 minutes he was on the field for.

He had just 20 touches, won four out of eight duels, lost possession nine times, committed two fouls and made one clearance, as well as having zero shots on target.

The service wasn’t great to the attacker but he just doesn’t look to be the same player that was banging in goals for fun last season at the City Ground.

A trial that didn’t work for Nuno Espirito Santo.
