Nottingham Forest set for reunion as coach who worked at the City Ground set to replace Rob Edwards at Luton

Nottingham Forest will renew their rivalry with Luton Town on Saturday as the two teams meet in the third round of the FA Cup.
Last season the pair fought things out to avoid joining Sheffield United and Burnley in the Championship, with Forest coming out on top.
The Reds avoided relegation despite having a four-point deduction and in fairness, Luton proved a poor outfit in their maiden Premier League campaign.
Nuno Espirito Santo has suggested Danilo will return this weekend and the two teams are now in very different places.
Forest sit third in the Premier League table, whilst Luton are fighting to avoid back-to-back relegations after a horrible season so far in the second tier.
Today, the Hatters have made a huge call ahead of a trip to the City Ground on Saturday.
Rob Edwards sacked as Luton Town manager
Despite earning the plucky underdogs tag in the Premier League, things have gone really sour for Luton since their relegation.
The vast majority of the club’s top players couldn’t leave quickly enough following relegation and that left Edwards with another rebuilding job on his hands.
Whilst Forest were comfortably despatching Wolves on Monday, Luton were busy continuing their hapless away form with a 2-1 defeat at QPR.
With the Hatters sitting 20th in the Championship, the club today announced that Edwards won’t take charge against Forest and he’s been removed from his position.
Familiar face will take charge of Luton vs Forest
It does seem curious timing to part company with Edwards at this stage, with the FA Cup clash less than 48 hours away.
As a result, Luton won’t have a new boss in place and the team will be led by Paul Trollope and Mick Harford at the City Ground.
Trollope worked as the assistant manager to Chris Hughton when he was in charge at Forest and it’s hard to imagine him getting too warm of a welcome this weekend.
Although Hughton should be given some sympathy for managing the team through the Covid campaign, the football he offered up was turgid at best.
It will be interesting to see if the sacking of Edwards makes an impact on the team this weekend.
One way or another, however, Forest have to believe the game on Saturday is very winable with a place in the fourth round up for grabs.
