Nottingham Forest striker target waves goodbye to fans as Fabrizio Romano issues update

Nottingham Forest are going to be cutting things very fine indeed when it comes to bolstering their squad ahead of the transfer deadline.
It’s been an unusually quiet month for Nuno Espirito Santo. With this team sitting third in the Premier League, the need for reinforcements hasn’t quite been as urgent as in previous years.
Evangelos Marinakis does want a forward though. He’s keen to ensure Forest don’t waste this opportunity to get into Europe and new players are being sought.
Matheus Cunha is wanted by Forest. However, signing him won’t be easy with Wolves valuing him around £70 million to any club that wants to sign him during this transfer window.
There will be others on the list at Forest as the club works hard behind the scenes. However, the chances of one player now arriving on Trentside could be dwindling.

Mathys Tel waves goodbye to Bayern Munich fans amid Forest and Tottenham links
It came as a surprise when Tel was named in the starting line-up last night, with Bayern taking on Slovan Bratislava having already qualified for the next round of the Champions League.
Tel has been praised by Harry Kane previously. He’s been linked with Forest earlier this month, whilst he was also a target for the club during the summer transfer window.
After the game at the Allianz Arena last night, Tel seemed to wave goodbye to the Bayern faithful. It would appear that he’s on his way to England now with the Premier League as his preferred destination.
Tel has been with the German giants since 2022 when he checked in from Rennes. In 83 appearances for the team, he’s scored 16 goals and registered seven assists but has found regular game time tricky in recent months.
Fabrizio Romano offers update on Mathys Tel future amid Forest links
It would appear as though Forest are facing a losing battle to sign Tel. Tottenham appear to have come forward in the last 24 hours, with Chelsea and Manchester United also thought to be keen.
Romano posted on X: “The race for Mathys Tel is starting to heat up with Premier League clubs pushing. Tottenham open to investing on permanent transfer – as their director was in attendance in Munich last night. Chelsea are still there for a permanent deal, Man United called for a loan deal.”
In hindsight, Tel looks like a perfect Forest signing. He’s only 19 and that would mean he arrives with bags of potential and a player who would likely retain a significant amount of resale value.
Forest really could do with another forward option before the window closes on Monday. Right now, that looks unlikely to be Tel, with the Reds seemingly focused on other target and who the club does manage to sign remains to be seen at this stage.
