Paul Merson has now made his prediction for Arsenal vs Nottingham Forest ahead of this weekend’s Premier League clash.

Nottingham Forest fans would never have expected to be joint on points with Arsenal heading into a clash with them in November, after fighting relegation last season.

To have the second-best defence in the Premier League is mind-blowing at this stage, as well as just two losses.

Nuno Espirito Santo has the players to cause plenty of issues for Arsenal. The likes of Anthony Elanga and Callum Hudson-Odoi have the pace and power on the counter-attack, whilst Morgan Gibbs-White can create and connect defence to attack, with Chris Wood in prolific form up top.

Well, Paul Merson has now given his prediction for the clash, and he thinks it’s going to be goals galore.

Paul Merson makes his Arsenal vs Nottingham Forest prediction

Paul Merson got it wrong last time out when predicting Nottingham Forest vs Newcastle, as he claimed it would end 2-1 to the Reds.

It’s important that Forest put things right, and it looks as if Nuno Espirito Santo hasn’t wasted any time in training, as the players have been working on defending set pieces.

When speaking in his column for Sportskeeda, Paul Merson has predicted a 3-1 win for Arsenal.

“It is a tricky game for Arsenal because they have no more mistakes left in them now. They have to keep winning, it’s as simple as that. Nottingham Forest are actually a better team away from home.

“But that defeat to Newcastle is a sign of their good start slowly starting to wear off. I feel Arsenal’s midfield will be too much for Forest in this game.

“The likes of Martin Odegaard and Thomas Partey will dominate them. Forest are always a threat on the counter-attack, but I’m not too sure if Chris Wood can cause too many problems to the likes of William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes.

“This is a cup final for Arsenal, a must-win game. Mikel Arteta and company have some lovely fixtures coming up and will be hopeful of putting on a solid run. I back them to win their next six or seven games and it starts with this one.”

Chris Wood’s goals so far this season

Chris Wood’s goals have pretty much all come against sides typically outside of the top six, apart from Chelsea.

He failed to score against Newcastle United, Fulham, Southampton and Liverpool.

However, Paul Merson’s comment don’t make too much sense. No offence to Leicester, but they managed to score two against Gabriel and Saliba.

Fresh off five goals in two games for New Zealand, Wood will certainly be high on confidence.
