Nottingham Forest have done it. For the first time in 30 years, the Reds have beaten Manchester United at Old Trafford.

Goals from Nikola Milenkovic, Morgan Gibbs-White and Chris Wood ensured that the Reds returned to winning ways after a thrashing by Manchester City.

Nuno Espirito Santo has changed the perception of Forest and perhaps the Reds were underestimated by United yesterday.

Morgan Gibbs-White raved about Espirito Santo after the game and it’s fair to say that the Forest head coach is extremely popular.

Forest did a number on United and James Perch on radio commentary made some hilarious comments about one United player who hated playing against the Reds.

James Perch makes hilarious comments on Bruno Fernandes

The former Forest utility man was on BBC Radio Nottingham yesterday and it was a game where he kind of had a foot in both camps.

Perch played for Forest for a number of years but he’s never made any secret of the fact that he’s a United fan.

Yesterday, he teamed up with Colin Fray to provide the commentary on Forest’s trip to United and he felt that one player was absolutely rattled by Forest.

In the 24th minute following a tussle with Ryan Yates, Fernandes went moaning to the referee in search of a yellow for the Forest man.

Perch said: “What’s he moaning at? He’s such a baby, isn’t he? I really can’t stand him when he’s like that. Yates has rattled him.”

In fairness, Yates perhaps didn’t have his best game yesterday but once again he was the captain as Forest claimed a huge three points away from home.

Ryan Yates is the master of rattling opposing players

Fernandes can sit on a list with Enzo Fernandes and Alexis MacAllister in terms of players to have been glad to have seen the back of Yates this season.

The Reds needed a response yesterday at Old Trafford and boy did they get one with that sort of result.

Yates divides opinion and at times yesterday, the midfield was wide open with Espirito Santo sticking to his guns and playing two in midfield as per usual.

It clearly had some impact as Forest came back to the East Midlands with all three points but there were times when the Reds had to ride their luck.

It’s really hard not to agree with Perch in terms of Fernandes and it’s quite comical that a £300,0000-a-week player was so upset with Yates.
