Neco Williams has been good, but he’s not exactly set the world alight at Nottingham Forest. However, his Wales performance was something else as the star man for his national side.

Nuno Espirito Santo opted to go with Neco Williams at right-back in the first three games of Nottingham Forest‘s season, but he’s been on the substitutes’ bench in the last four Premier League games.

Neco Williams got into it with Levi Colwill at Stamford Bridge last time out, and he even posted a cheeky little reminder on Instagram after the game.

He’s very good going forward and has a wicked delivery on him, but defensively he’s been found out a bit at times and often dives in when it’s not needed.

However, he had one of his best performances of the season on international duty last night, as Wales drew 2-2 with Iceland in the Nations League.

The national media react to Neco Williams’ display for Wales

Neco Williams was impressive during the last international break for Wales, receiving an 8/10 and a 7/10 from two outlets for his performance against Montenegro.

Last night he went one better as the star man for Wales, starting at left-back and playing the full 90 minutes.

Clwbpeldroed were very impressed with his performance, labeling him as the star performer and giving him a 9/10.

“Neco was at his creative in the first half as he produced two defence-splitting passes that lead to both of the Wales goals.”

The Wales Online also thought highly of the defender but gave him a slightly lower rating of 8/10.

“At the heart of both goals, and made some really good defensive contributions including a clearance off the line. Wasn’t so good after the break, but he wasn’t the only one.”

Neco Williams’ performance in numbers against Iceland

Nottingham Forest fans will be hoping that Williams can bring this form back with him after the international break.

He won six of his seven duels, made four clearances, blocked one shot, made one interception, won three tackles, one clearance off the line, lost possession 11 times, had 93 touches, was fouled once, a passing accuracy of 93%, made two key passes, completed every dribble and created two big chances.

Alex Moreno and Ola Aina kept things defensively sound last time out against Chelsea, so Williams will find it hard to break into the side straight away.
