The referee for the Nottingham Forest vs Chelsea fixture this weekend in the Premier League has been announced, and some fans may not be too happy.

Nottingham Forest had a number of issues with VAR against Fulham last time out.

The Murillo penalty incident and the decision for Anthony Elanga not to be awarded a penalty was questioned by pretty much every Nottingham Forest player on the field.

However, two Sky Sports pundits didn’t agree with the criticism of the decisions. They felt that it was a clear decision and that the Brazilian shouldn’t get any sympathy.

And, the refereeing appointment for the Chelsea clash doesn’t look much better.

Chris Kavanagh appointed as referee for Chelsea vs Nottingham Forest

Chris Kavanagh was involved in some controversy only days ago as he sent off Bruno Fernandes during Manchester United’s clash with Tottenham Hotspur.

The red card has since been overturned in what has turned out to be a big error from Kavanagh.

According to the Premier League, Chris Kavanagh will be the man in the middle for Chelsea vs Nottingham Forest at Stamford Bridge this weekend.

His assistants will be Lee Betts and James Mainwaring, as well as Tony Harrington on fourth official duty. The man in the VAR hot seat will be Jarred Gillett, with his assistant Wade Smith.

Craig Kavanagh’s record involving Nottingham Forest

Chris Kavanagh has already refereed four Premier League games in the current campaign, none of which have involved Chelsea or Nottingham Forest.

Nottingham Forest have been refereed 15 times by Kavanagh and have only won three of those games, as well as five draws and seven losses.

Chelsea have a much better record, winning 11, drawing one and losing three.

The last four clashes between these two sides are equal, with a win and a loss for each side, as well as two drawn games.
