Report: Club make approach to take Nottingham Forest forward on loan

Nottingham Forest will likely do some business before the window slams shut but more players could go out than come in this time around.
Evangelos Marinakis would leave to sign a striker. However, if he doesn’t get one, the Forest owner will likely remain relaxed with the current squad sitting in third place in the table.
Matheus Cunha looks like the top Forest target. The Wolves man has stalled on a new contract and as a result, he’s now been linked with a move to a host of clubs including the Reds.
Other players have been linked with a move to Forest. Yoane Wissa is one of them and he remained tight-lipped over a move to the City Ground during a recent interview.
There have been some links with moves away from Forest, however. The academy ranks are brimming with quality and earlier this week, Esapa Osong moved out on loan to Cambridge.
Lincoln City want to complete Joe Gardner signing
According to Alan Nixon via his Patreon, Lincoln are now pressing ahead to try and sign Gardner before the transfer window slams shut next week.
The young Forest striker has been in fine form this season. The 19-year-old has bagged seven goals and claimed two assists for the Reds during their Premier League 2 and EFL Trophy campaigns.
Gardner typically plays as a striker but he’s not restricted to that position. He’s showcased his ability to play as a number ten or out wide on the flank over the course of the season.
Gardner now looks ready to make the step up to senior football. He’s in the midst of a strong season and Lincoln is a club that has a history of nurturing Forest talent.
Forest to repeat Brennan Johnson trick by loaning Gardner to Lincoln
It’s quite remarkable when you look at them now but during 2020/21, Lincoln had Johnson and current Aston Villa star Morgan Rogers in the same team.
Together they combined to help the Imps have a wonderful season where they narrowly missed out on the Championship – losing in the League One play-off final to Blackpool.
Johnson scored 13 goals and registered six assists that season. The fan base warmed to him quickly and despite games being played behind closed doors the supporters were positive about him on social media.
Gardner isn’t going to have that sort of impact at Lincoln. He will only have half a season to impress but it’s clear that the club ethos are good and if he can play regularly there is no reason why he can’t get himself amongst the goals.
