The January transfer window is in full swing for Nottingham Forest, with one position seemingly becoming a priority for Nuno Espirito Santo.

Despite it being revealed that Forest are prioritising three positions in January, a striker, winger and centre-back, rumours continue to swirl about another area of the Forest squad.

Left-back isn’t necessarily an immediate concern, with Neco Williams performing well and Alex Moreno hinting at his desire to stay at Forest in a recent social media post. However, Moreno’s deal is only temporary so Evangelos Marinakis is right to be searching for a longer-term solution.

Forest won’t sign Moreno permanently in January, leading to other options becoming linked with a move to Espirito Santo’s side, including Forest’s reported interest in Pervis Estupinan.

The next name that has appeared on the left-back list is a former Barcelona star, with reports confirming Forest’s interest in the player.

Moussa N’Diaye confirms Nottingham Forest interest

Forest were linked with Moussa N’Diaye before the January window opened, with the former Barcelona man impressing for Anderlecht.

However, in an interview with D Sports (as per Sport Witness), N’Diaye has gone a step further to confirm Forest’s interest in his services.

N’Diaye said: “There are discussions, but I leave that to my agent. I remain focused on my performances [for Anderlecht].

It’s clear to see why these performances have attracted the interest of the Forest manager, with N’Diaye completing 61.3% of his dribbles from left back per game and also winning 61.8% of his defensive duels.

There may be a problem for Forest if they are serious about pursuing the Senegalese star, though, as in the same interview, N’Diaye revealed details about where he sees his future after Anderlecht.

Moussa N’Diaye on his ‘dream’ move after Anderlecht

Continuing the interview, N’Diaye revealed his desire to return to Spain if a move from Anderlecht were to transpire, perhaps feeling he has unfinished business from his time at Barcelona.

He said: “As a league, I love Spain. My dream is to go back there." N’Diaye also made it clear that he is currently content in Belgium, saying: “I'm in a very good dynamic. I hope to continue like this.

“Last year, an injury kept me away from the field for five months. When I returned, my replacement had emerged. I worked hard to regain my place.”

Clearly, then, a move to the City Ground is far from N’Diaye’s priorities given his desire to return to Spain after his time at Anderlecht.

Forest’s potential to qualify for European football this season may change his mind, but Espirito Santo and the Forest owner may need to prioritise other left-back targets in the meantime.
