Report: Nottingham Forest fan favourite is open to joining a new club this month

Nottingham Forest did some brilliant business in the summer transfer window and now attention has turned towards the January window where the Reds hope to do business.
In terms of incoming deals, Forest will likely be quiet. Evangelos Marinakis wants to add a striker to the ranks but it’s unlikely that the club will be panicking into anything that isn’t absolutely necessary.
Matheus Cunha is wanted by Forest and it appears he’s the number one target. However, other players will be linked with the club, whilst some others might leave, with Andrew Omobamidele set to join Strasbourg.
He might not be the last player to leave the club before the window slams shut. In fact, there is a sense that more players will leave the City Ground rather than incoming deals which will come sparingly.
Alex Moreno could leave Nottingham Forest before transfer deadline
According to reports, Moreno would potentially be delighted if a move back to Real Betis could be organised. The left-back made 122 appearances for the Spanish outfit before moving to Aston Villa in 2023.
Moreno moved to Forest in the summer to bolster the options at left-back. The fact he’s left-footed has added some balance to the back four and Nuno Espirito Santo has picked him 14 times in his team.
The 31-year-old is only on loan at Forest with no option to sign him permanently. As a result, the fact he’s not currently in the team is perhaps telling and it would make sense that he’d welcome a move back.
Letting him leave would leave Forest short though. Neco Williams is currently operating in that area of the pitch and having Moreno as a backup option makes for excellent competition for places.
Forest can’t let Moreno leave
This would simply leave Forest too much to do if they were to let Moreno leave now. The full-back department is in excellent shape right now and losing the Villa loanee wouldn’t be ideal.
Betis does hold a special place in Moreno’s heart, however. As a result, it sounds clear that he would find it very difficult to turn down should an offer be forthcoming before the window closes.
Forest have to make sure their own house is in order though. As a result, making sure Moreno remains at the club until the summer has to be a top priority for the current transfer window.
