Nottingham Forest are cruising along just nicely in the Premier League but it would seem that plans are already in place for the January transfer window.

Forest signed 11 new players in the summer, with two of them – David Carmo and Marko Stamenic – immediately joining Olympiacos on a season-long loan.

The Reds are currently sitting fifth in the Premier League and at this stage, Nuno Espirito Santo is laying brilliant foundations to build from.

Going into Saturday’s trip to Arsenal, Forest are unbeaten away from home and with 19 points from 11 games, it’s been a fantastic start.

Despite the positive notes being played on the pitch, it would appear as though the club are trying to get plans in place ready for the January transfer window.

Bayern Munich player Mathys Tel has been linked to Forest and the hope will be that quality over quantity can be the order of the day once more.

Nottingham Forest want El Hadji Malick Diouf

In the summer, there was a very clear profile of the type of player that Forest wanted to pursue.

The Reds identified young talent and a pool of players who would only get better with more frequent game time – such as Elliot Anderson who joined from Newcastle.

Now, according to Africa Foot, the Reds want to sign Slavia Prague youngster El Hadji Malick Diouf in January.

Forest won’t be the only club keen on the player, with Diouf also being courted by Brentford and Villarreal ahead of the transfer window.

Diouf has been producing the goods for Slavia Prague this season, scoring five goals and three assists from 21 appearances in all competitions.

The 19-year-old can operate on the flank but this season he’s been working wonders as a left-sided wing-back.

He is currently playing in a European competition but a move to a top European league would surely prove attractive to the talented teenager.

How much Forest would have to pay for El Hadji Malick Diouf

It’s not thought that Prague would be looking to cash in on the versatile performer any time soon – but offers could be made.

It’s thought that Diouf will cost around £12 million should any club wish to poach him and that might not be bad business.

Forest have a particularly strong record when it comes to signing talented youngsters and that would likely make the club attractive to Diouf.

Whether a left-sided player is a serious target this summer remains to be seen but Diouf would definitely be an attractive option for the future if the Reds do decide to do a deal.
