Nottingham Forest will be trying to sign some players this month with the transfer window open but others might leave the City Ground.

Chris Wood has been linked with Besiktas this month but it does feel unlikely that he will depart with 12 goals to his name during 2024/25.

Other players will be linked with moves away this month but Forest will want to keep the top players who have led the team to third place at the club.

With the squad very well stocked, it does feel as though any new players who come in will have to come at the expense of members of the current squad leaving.

Lots of links will do the rounds in the coming weeks and it remains to be seen what the squad will look like when the window closes in early February.

Forest defender Willy Boly wanted in surprise EFL transfer

According to Africa Foot, the centre-back is wanted by EFL clubs this month, with Hull City and Millwall leading the way to try and land him.

It’s likely that Boly will only leave the club on loan this month and with his contract up in the summer, he will probably leave on a free at that point.

Intriguingly, it’s claimed that contract talks stalled with Boly with Forest seemingly keen to keep him at the club for another year.

That feels a strange claim given that Boly has been the fourth-choice central defender this year – although he did get some minutes at Everton last time out.

Hull and Millwall have very different ambitions for the remainder of the 2024/25 campaign.

The Tigers are trying to keep their heads above water and stay in the Championship, whilst Millwall will hope to make a late push to gatecrash the play-off places.

Boly has proved loyal servant to Forest since signing in 2022

Ruben Neves called Boly ‘fantastic’ when he was at Wolves and he’s proved a snip at £2.5 million from a Forest perspective.

His signing was met with some intrigue, with Boly joining as the transfer window drew to a close in the summer of 2022.

Boly has made 41 appearances for the Reds, scoring three goals during his time at the club and he’s always given his all when called upon.

With the defender now 33-years-old and down the pecking order at Forest, it does seem somewhat nonsensical to keep him around.

Moving to the Championship would be an intriguing move for him but for any club in that division that gets Boly, they would be getting a real coup from Forest.
