Striker who still dreams of Premier League transfer shares why he rejected Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest fought tooth and nail to try and sign a new striker during the summer transfer window.

The Reds ultimately ended up disappointed in their quest to sign some competition for Chris Wood and Taiwo Awoniyi.

Santiago Gimenez was the top target but he rejected the advances of Forest on more than one occasion.

Then there was a move for Eddie Nketiah but he chose Crystal Palace over Forest after a chat with Oliver Glasner.

With the hours ticking towards the deadline, Forest made tentative enquiries for Omar Marmoush and at one stage it looked good for the Frankfurt striker to sign for the club.

However, things fell through on deadline day and now Marmoush has been in form for the Bundesliga outfit since the window closed.

Omar Marmoush shares why he didn’t sign for Nottingham Forest

Bild have been quizzing the Egyptian striker on the decision not to head to Forest during the summer transfer window.

It was claimed in the English media at one point that the player was open to the move and that it was close at one point.

A valuation of £28 million was quoted in England but Bild dismissed that as a ‘joke’ with Frankfurt valuing him much higher.

Marmoush has made a strong start to the 2024/24 campaign, scoring four goals and claiming three assists in five games.

He’s enjoying his football and ultimately leaving the Bundesliga outfit never crossed his mind.

He told Bild: “The feeling I have here, especially with the coach, is indescribable. That just inspired me to stay here and concentrate on the task.”

The report does, however, claim that Marmoush dreams of the Premier League still and will not black a transfer if one should arise in the future.

Marmoush could still potentially end up at Forest

Given that it sounds like Marmoush wants a Premier League move, there is nothing to suggest he won’t remain on the Forest radar.

However, if Frankfurt are craving more than £30 million then it quite simply might be out of the reach of Forest when it comes to the sums involved.

Still, the Reds have taken nine points from five unbeaten games so far this season and that sort of form for a bit longer might make Forest attractive to potential signings in January.

Marmoush is now 25-years-old and he’s at a nice age to fit nicely into the current ethos of the Forest squad given what the club tried to do in the summer.

Forest will almost certainly be targeting a new striker in the next couple of windows and it will be fascinating to see who the club goes for next.
