Nottingham Forest are causing quite a stir among the Premier League’s big-hitting clubs.

After 16 games of the campaign, Forest are fourth in the Premier League table and have 28 points – just four fewer than the total for the entire season in 2023/24.

There have been some really positive performances this season, with Chris Wood and Morgan Gibbs-White hailing the win over Liverpool when asked recently.

Jamie Redknapp recently praised Nuno Espirito Santo and he’s changed the perception of how people view the football club.

It’s been a time for pundits to backtrack on their pre-season predictions.

Gary Lineker has changed his mind on Forest, whilst Robbie Earle conceded that he thought Forest would go down this season.

However, those two weren’t the only ones.

Gary Neville mocks Jamie Carragher after pre-season Forest prediction

Sometimes, it feels like Neville and Carragher would be better off at a comedy club than talking football.

The pair often through the banter around and in a world where people crave proper analysis it can sometimes be a bit too much.

That said, they both enjoyed stunning playing careers and when the banter stops and football is talked about, sometimes there is a lot of sense spoken.

Unless it comes to talking about Forest, that is.

Carragher actually predicted Forest to get relegated but as Neville revisited the pair’s predictions, he couldn’t resist mocking his fellow pundit.

A conversation on The Overlap US went as follows:

Neville: “Do you think Forest will stay up now Carra?”

Carragher: “I think they might just have half a chance.”

Neville: “Do you know something, I’m not revelling in this but it is probably looking like the worst prediction of all time even though I would have said that Forest were in the hunt for going down as well. It’s unbelievable.”

Carragher made to eat his words on Forest

Carragher implied that because Forest had spent so much time ‘circling the plug hole’ as he called it, eventually the team would fall through the trap door.

Instead, the recruitment made by the club was ignored and now the pundits might have wished a bit more research had been done.

Naturally, these two aren’t the only pundits made to look a little bit foolish and they probably won’t be the last before the season draws to a close.

Forest are busy proving people wrong and hopefully, the team can continue ruffling some feathers as the season goes on.
