Nottingham Forest enjoyed a busy summer transfer window as they were once again one of the busiest sides in the Premier League.

Double digit arrivals came through the doors at the City Ground with a number of them having an immediate effect.

Ramon Sosa scored on the weekend to secure Forest with a point whilst the likes of Elliot Anderson and Nikola Milenkovic have been regulars in the starting XI.

However, there was one area of the pitch which the Reds were unable to bolster and that was up front despite their best efforts.

Despite this, Nuno Espirito Santo‘s side have made a sensational start to the season with Forest remaining unbeaten going into their game against Fulham.

What Santiago Gimenez thought about joining Nottingham Forest

The Reds did try and bring in a striker over the summer with Forest showing a real interest in Eddie Nketiah who ended up joining Crystal Palace.

But he was not the only striker on their radar, with Forest also making a move for Santiago Gimenez from Feyenoord.

However, they were unable to pull off a move for the Mexico international who was wanted across Europe.

And in a recent report from Mexican outlet AM, there was a clear reason why Gimenez did not want to join Forest.

The striker also had interest from the likes of AC Milan, Juventus and Atletico Madrid over the summer but he remained in the Eredvisie.

Forest are said to be the side who came closest to signing Gimenez, however, the striker was convinced the Reds were going to be involved in a relegation battle.

Of course, it is only five games into the season, but Forest have made a sensational start which is surely leaving Gimenez red-faced at rejecting Nuno’s side.

There has even been the suggestion that Gimenez is regretting the decision not to join Forest over the summer.

Santiago Gimenez has now picked up an injury

The Mexican has been able to return two goals this season in his five Eredivisie appearances, but he has also picked up an injury.

Gimenez is now expected to miss three months of football after picking up an injury recently as he was stretchered off against NAC Breda.

Looking at how Forest are doing in the Premier League, Gimenez must be rueing the missed opportunity at playing ahead of Morgan Gibbs-White.

Chris Wood has been in fine form this season and is thriving on the creative options around him at the City Ground.

Even though Gimenez has impressed in recent seasons, rejecting Forest twice over the summer may now make any potential future move incredibly unlikely.
