£70m midfielder hands blow to Arsenal and Tottenham, Rodri-like star ready to snub big transfer

Premier League giants Arsenal and Liverpool have been among those linked with a move for one of the most in-form forwards anywhere in European football right now.

And with good reason.

Omar Marmoush looks more and more likely, with every week that passes, to become the latest Eintracht Frankfurt forward to pass the Commerzbank Arena finishing school with flying colours before taking on a master’s in goalscoring elsewhere.

TBR understands that Arsenal and Liverpool have watched Marmoush in the flesh this season. Firing home a 14th goal already with a stunning free-kick in last weekend’s 3-2 win at Stuttgart, Marmoush has the potential to become ‘better’ than Mohamed Salah according to one Egyptian expert.

And where better to prove such a theory than Anfield?

But while Marmoush’s brilliance has cast a shadow over most in the Bundesliga this season – let alone at Frankfurt – there is another player at Dino Toppmoller’s disposal who is also generating quite the fanclub.

Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham show Hugo Larsson interest

Arsenal and Liverpool are reportedly watching Hugo Larsson alongside his free-scoring teammate.

Tottenham Hotspur also have their sights on the 20-year-old Swede, with a Larsson and Hugo Bergvall partnership potentially making North London the home to Scandanavia’s next-best midfield duo.

Interestingly, Ange Posteocoglou’s Spurs were linked with Larsson back in April too.

Frankfurt paid a bargain £8 million to sign 20-year-old Larsson from Malmo during the summer of 2023.

According to BILD, Die Adler would demand closer to £70 million in the New Year. Though one suspects that such a stance is an attempt to keep his suitors away rather than a realistic transfer demand for a youngster with only 30 Bundesliga starts under his belt.

Larsson, fortunately, is in no rush to take the next step.

Speaking to Kicker, the 6ft 2ins giant insists that he is keen to stick along for the ride with Frankfurt third in the Bundesliga table and heading back to the Champions League as things stand.

“I wouldn’t sign anything I didn’t want to do,” Larsson explains. “I feel very comfortable at Eintracht, on and off the pitch. I enjoy my time here.

"I think Frankfurt are getting better every year and I want to be a part of that. We can become one of the top clubs in Germany, if we aren’t already."

Larsson continues a proud tradition of young, ambitious players who arrived brimming with potential and promise. Potential they would fulfil in the red and black.

Frankfurt have sold players for big money to Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid and West Ham, to name but three, in recent years.

“This it is a perfect club for the development of young players,” adds Larsson, following in the footsteps of William Pacho, Randal Kolo Muani and Andre Silva. “Here you can present yourself on a big stage. It’s great fun, and I have the feeling that we can have a successful team every year.

“We have signed good players. But even the players who, like me, came a year ago feel even better this season.”

Larsson has three goals from 16 appearances this term.

Averaging three successful tackles in the Europa League, meanwhile, the control and presence Larsson provides in the centre of the park have earned him comparisons with Man City’s Ballon D’Or winning enforcer Rodri via the official Bundesliga website.

TBR understands that another midfielder on Tottenham’s radar is Brighton’s Facundo Buonanotte.

Though, as things stand, The Seagulls have no plans to cash in on the twinkle-toed Argentine thriving on loan at Leicester City.
