Everton midfielders Abdoulaye Doucoure and Idrissa Gueye are both set to leave the club in the summer with their contracts expiring, and the teammates shared a communication online.

The Toffees look set for a busy summer, with the club aiming to build a squad fit for both David Moyes, and their new Bramley-Moore Docks stadium.

Everton have been linked with a transfer for Joel Ordonez from Club Brugge, whilst Sean Longstaff could make the move to join Moyes’ squad.

However, it wont just be a busy summer in terms of incomings, with a number of key players set to leave, thanks to expiring contracts.

The Toffees snatched a point with a late 1-1 draw against Moyes’ former side West Ham on Saturday (15 March), thanks to a Jake O’Brien equaliser.

Idrissa Gueye posts message to Everton fans

Both of Gueye and Doucoure’s contracts are expiring, alongside seven other players at Goodison Park.

Everton are looking to negotiate a more club-friendly deal for the Mali international, rejecting the option to activate his one-year extension.

Gueye’s future remains up in the air, despite that, the Senegalese midfielder posted a series of photos of himself enjoying training with his side on Instagram, captioned with a battery, and blue emoji.

Doucoure then responded to his teammate, saying: “Let’s go my brother”, with a heart-eyes, and fire emoji.

Extending Jarrad Branthwaite should be Everton’s number one priority

Football Insider Verdict

Jarrad Branthwaite’s has a long list of suitors this summer, including Man United, Liverpool, and Real Madrid.

The 22-year-old made his England debut last June, and has been regularly linked with a move away from the club.

Despite the allure, the centre-back has shown no signs of being desperate to leave the club, and the Toffees are now looking to make Branthwaite the highest paid Everton player ever.

Football finance expert, Stefan Borson, told Football Insider exclusively the defender would likely demand a £150,000-a-week deal to remain at Everton.

The Toffees had previously been in considerable financial strife leading up to this season, having received an eight-point deduction last year, but are now in a stronger position, in part thanks to a new financing deal on their Bramley-Moore Dock stadium.

If the club are serious about building a side capable of moving back up the Premier League table under Moyes, and potentially qualifying for Europe, keeping their star players is absolutely necessary.
