Arsenal have had an excellent start to this Premier League campaign.

The north London club are unbeaten in the league so far this season, while they scored a comprehensive win against PSG in the Champions League too.

However, somehow, there's still this feeling that Arsenal haven't quite hit top gear as of yet.

Indeed, things haven't fully clicked for Arsenal just yet, but they are on their way to hitting top form.

Speaking on TalkSPORT, Darren Bent has been discussing Arsenal's season so far, and he's backed Gabriel Martinelli to improve as we head towards Christmas time.

Darren Bent tips Gabriel Martinelli to improve

Bent spoke highly of the Brazilian winger, claiming that he looks like he's regaining his confidence.

The pundit says that Martinelli has the talent to be a magnificent player, and he thinks he's slowly getting back to his best.

Bent reckons that by the time Christmas rolls around, Martinelli will be absolutely flying.

"That's the biggest thing – confidence – in any football. It doesn't matter where you play, what level you play, if you haven't got the confidence, then your performances are going to drop.

"And when he hit the 15, he was magnificent. But can you back it up again? Because to go two seasons with those amount of goals and those amount of assists is difficult to do.

"He is working his way back, but you can see the confidence now slowly starting to come back. I believe by Christmas time, he will be absolutely flying.

"His confidence will be flying, the numbers will be there, and it will be the Martinelli of old."

Gabriel Martinelli has already improved

Bent reckons that Martinelli will get better towards Christmas, but he's already well on the road to top form.

Indeed, Ian Wright has stated that Martinelli is already looking much better than he once did.

"Our left side, I always thought it wasn't activated, it hasn't worked. We tried with Zinchenko, we tried with Kiwior, even Timber on that side, it doesn't work," Wright said.

"With Calafiori, he does really activate Martinelli, he's a whole different kettle of fish now, he knows he can go, and it's the same with Saka and Timber."

Physically, Martinelli looks like he's already back to his peak level physically. In fact, he's the fifth-fastest player in the Premier League so far this season, and that pace is frightening for any defender.

Confidence is absolutely massive for any player, and, luckily, it looks like Martinelli is finally back in a good rhythm,

If Arsenal are to win the Premier League this season, the Brazilian will have a big part to play.
