'All efforts': Arsenal will do all they can to try and sell 'special' player this summer - journalist

Arsenal are going to have to trim some of the fat from their squad this summer.
Indeed, the Gunners need to streamline their squad and add more quality if they are going to challenge for major honours next season, and that means that a few players will have to leave.
Kieran Tierney is expected to join Celtic this summer, while Jorginho could also leave the club.
One player who is in a rather difficult situation at Arsenal right now is Reiss Nelson.
The winger has been on loan at Fulham this season, but Nelson has suffered a string of injuries meaning his gametime has been limited.
Nelson was tipped for big things when he first came through at Arsenal, but, sadly, things haven't gone to plan for the attacker.
Mikel Arteta called Nelson 'special' a few years ago, but, from that point, he hasn't kicked on.
Speaking on the Arsecast, Charles Watts has been discussing what the future holds for Nelson, and he shared an interesting update.

Arsenal will try to sign Reiss Nelson
Watts shared what he knows about Nelson and his future at Arsenal.
The journalist noted that it won't be easy for Arsenal to do it, but he says that the Gunners will indeed be trying to sell Reiss Nelson in the summer transfer window.
"It’s not going to be easy when he’s missed the second half of the season. I bet everyone asked, it’s like, oh, when he got that injury, obviously you feel bad for Reiss Nelson, but also when you look ahead to the summer and the plans to potentially move him on, they would have hoped he had a really strong season and he was having one, was having a good season anyway, which is going to make it. You’d think they could have got 10, 15 million pounds for him come the summer," Watts said.
"Now that’s looking difficult, I would imagine, but I think they’ll certainly put all efforts in and Reiss Nelson and his people will put all efforts in to finding a sort of permanent solution in the summer for him."
Reiss Nelson stats for Fulham
Watts suggests it will be a struggle for Arsenal to find a suitor to buy Nelson, but perhaps Fulham will indeed be interested in making this deal permanent.
Fulham aren't exactly blessed in terms of depth on the wings right now.
Harry Wilson has had his own injury problems, while Willian isn't getting any younger.
Fulham will be in the market for a winger in the summer, and maybe they will opt to sign Nelson permanently. After all, his stats this season when he has played have been decent.
Reiss Nelson stats for Fulham | |
---|---|
Games | 11 |
Goals | 1 |
Assists | 1 |
Key passes per game | 1.2 |
Dribbles per game | 1.2 |
Nelson already has a good relationship with a number of Fulham players, including Alex Iwobi and Emile Smith Rowe, so a permanent stay in west London would make a lot of sense from a personal standpoint too.
Don't discount Marco Silva's side making a permanent move for Nelson this summer.
