Andreas Pereira apologises to Fulham and fans after West Ham defeat

Fulham midfielder Andreas Pereira has taken to social media to apologise to teammates and fans after his side’s 3-2 defeat to West Ham.
The former Man United man has been the subject of much speculation in the past few weeks, with Pameiras in his native Brazil among those to be linked with the 29-year-old.
Pereira though endured an evening to forget as his side saw their nine-game unbeaten run come to an end on Tuesday (14 January) with defeat at the London Stadium.
It was a loose ball across the edge of his own penalty area from the Fulham midfielder that allowed Carlos Soler to instinctively pounce and fire West Ham ahead.
Andreas Pereira speaks out after costly error for Fulham
Moments after Pereira had inadvertently teed up Soler to open the scoring, Tomas Soucek struck to double West Ham’s advantage.
As a result, his error had gifted the Hammers the foundation to take control of a game that had previously seen Fulham look the more dominant side.
The midfielder has therefore now held his hands up for his mistake in an emotional message to his club’s supporters.
Posting on his Instagram story, Pereira wrote: “I will never hide or stop fighting for this team. I take responsibility for what happened today and want to apologise to the team and our fans.
“Together we will keep pushing and fight for victory in the next game. Thank you for you support always!! COYW.”
Football Insider Verdict
This was not a good moment for Pereira, who has more than enough experience to know he should not have played such a pass in a position as dangerous as the edge of his own area.
Given the speculation there has been about a potetial exit from Fulham for him, this may also raise questions among some about just how focused he is.
Even so, he was not the only member of his team to make a costly error in that defeat to the Hammers, and Silva’s side are still in a good position in ninth in the Premier League.
That may therefore give Pereira some scope to move on from this, especially if they can bounce back quickly away at relegation-threatened Leicester at the weekend.
In other news, Keith Hackett has exclusively told Football Insider that he was "baffled" by VAR in the Whites' game against West Ham.
